A TENSELESS EXPRESSION
There is a form of expression in Kannda (as well as in the Tulu language) in which only a single form of the Verb is used for all the 3 Persons in all the 8 forms, (i.e., I, we, you (S) , You (P) , he, she, it and they) .
This usage has only two Tense Patterns, one for the Past, and the other for the Present and the Future. It is not possible to translate it into English as it is. If we do, it will be like this: ನೀವು ಯಾವಾಗ ಬಂದದ್ದು? = You when came?
It is also possible to say the same as follows:
ನೀವು ಬಂದದ್ದು ಯಾವಾಗ?
ಯಾವಾಗ ನೀವು ಬಂದದ್ದು? ಯಾವಾಗ ಬಂದದ್ದು ನೀವು?
ಬಂದದ್ದು ನೀವು ಯಾವಾಗ? ಬಂದದ್ದು ಯಾವಾಗ ನೀವು?
Example for the Tenseless Expression:
(1) For the Past)
ನಾನು ನಾವು |
ಯಾವಾಗ ಬಂದದ್ದು? |
ಅದು ಅವುಗಳು |
ಹೇಗೆ ಬಂದದ್ದು |
(1) For the Present and Future:
ನಾನು ನಾವು |
ಯಾವಾಗ ಬರುವುದು? |
ಅದು |
ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬರುವುದು? |
