Some unknown old man
came like an old familiar fellow,
sifted each one of us with his look
for the one whom he needed.

With names unknown to us
he called each of us.
He used the codes
known only to them.

“Were they words or were they sparks?”

Just as we teased him
he suddenly turned
and flashed his teeth in a grin.
He pierced us with his looks
and then disappeared.

Then we knew
there was a light
of the other lands
in his eyes.
